Fool
03:56
|
|||
I was a fool to return here
To the place I never knew
Like a one-way avenue
That always stays the same
Guess it doesn’t really matter
It’s like a moon to the sea
It always has its place
And it has a pull on me
The doors are always open
But it’s hard to get inside
Sneaking in through windows
Shrouded in the night
You can almost feel it
All that came before
Stolen, shaped and tumbled
And washed upon the shore
Takes me by surprise
Closer than I’d like
Cover rolling over
The rain and the thunder
Drenched to the bone
All is washed away
Sometimes we all need the rain
I can hear the voices
Of everyone around
Hiding behind lines
Worn into the ground
Who can really blame them
With everything we’ve seen
Sometimes when you’re drifting
It’s hard to find a reason
I was a fool to miss it
And a fool to turn away
A fool to dismiss it
When everything had changed
But after all these years
The storm has blown away
The damage becomes beauty
In the history that is made
Takes me by surprise
Closer than I’d like
Cover rolling over
The rain and the thunder
Drenched to the bone
All is washed away
Sometimes we all need the rain

The Nighttime
04:33
|
|||
I remember driving slowly
In the desert night
With the stars and the moon
And the wind stirred the night
And
Nothing else mattered
What was there but us
With the stars in the sky like a wishing well
What wishes we’ll get
It’s too soon to tell
What does it matter
We have right now
And the night time
It helped us
To speak of the years
It held us in shadows
And erased all our fears
The night time it whispers
That tomorrow will come
Sooner than later
And too soon for some
Too soon for some
Not sure where we’ll be
When the light comes around
But we know where we’ve been
And that’s like life somehow
And living is what matters
We’re on our way now
And the night time
It helped us
To speak of the years
It held us in shadows
And erased all our fears
The night time it whispers
That tomorrow will come
Sooner than later
And too soon for some
Too soon for some
Too soon with the ones
With the stars in their eyes
As long as it’s night we can hide
From what tomorrow
May bring and decide
And the night time
It helped us
To speak of the years
It held us in shadows
And erased all our fears
The night time it whispers
That tomorrow will come
Sooner than later
And too soon for some
Too soon for some

Ten Reasons
04:02
|
|||
Summer haze
Softened gaze
Sunset breeze
Through the window screen
Close your eyes
See the times
That make it all worth while
So easy to see trials
Lace your fingers into mine
10 reasons to believe
Strength of heart
And sound of mind
Will warm us through the coldest times
Count the stars
From where you are
A new day will dawn
Each setting sun is like a New Year’s Eve
Rest your head
Onto mine
A place where you can believe
All that we can ever be
Is all that we will ever …
Need to be
Still, when the wind moves the sand and sea
To rest
When the night is long
And nothing will quiet the thoughts in your mind saying you (f) don’t know what tomorrow will bring…
Let your eyes look into mine
So that you can believe
All that you can ever see
Is all that you will ever need
Summer haze
Softened gaze
Sunset breeze
Through the window screen

Oh Lord
04:18
|
|||
Oh Lord, Oh Lord, Oh
You said, what was my hearth thinking
It must have been aching for something
Oh Lord, Oh Lord
I should have looked in my
rear view mirror
things are clearer like that
That raging sea I fee in me
Won't stop
I know you don't feel the
way I do
But anyway
I say...
I know a little better than that
Look to the sky
You could be anywhere
Look to the sky
Feeling blue
fits in
anywhere at all
anywhere at all
Oh Lord, Oh Lord, Oh
I should have known
What was coming
with that guitar
strumming in my head
Oh Lord, Oh Lord,
What was
was the purpose of this
two-ring circus
that I'm in
Can't see the lines
down the highway
and I'm losing my way
but I
I can't get enough of that
and that's ok for now
Follow sky-blue
as long
as it takes me there
takes me along
where I want to be
where my wings are free
anywhere at all
Look to the sky
You could be anywhere
Look to the sky
Feeling blue
fits in
anywhere at all
anywhere at all

Waiting on the Wind
03:48
|
|||
There was a time
When I was
Blissfully blind to
The pains of love
And it’s trial or two
Now it runs me through
The days go by
And they
Turn to night
It’s all the same when I
Lie in bed at night
Still as a tomb and twice as silent
The sheets are washed
And the room looks bare
You could say it’s kind of quiet here
Again
Waiting on the wind.
The clouds are still
And the
Leaves don’t shake
The phone is silent and
This old porch doesn’t creak
Though I never move
The birds sit by
Flightless and silent
The world stands still
And I wonder where the time went
The clock just hasn’t ticked
This candle burns
But it doesn’t light
This old pen won’t write
To you again
Waiting on the wind
Waiting on the wind

The Sea
04:08
|
|||
Look at me
Try to breathe
The waves are crashing
But they’ll calm and you’ll see
You and me
Meant to be
Nothing in this life
Will stop what should be
Our paths crossing softly
Changed the heavens
We cannot demand
They return
I see the storm
I know we’ve been warned
To tread the straight road
That’s rocky and thorned
I guess that way
Is a choice we could make
Where a heart can beat
A birthright can’t say
Birthright can’t say
I know you’re afraid, but be still now
The way to the life is jumping in
Don’t look down
You and me
We’re meant for the sea
And the starry nights
That guide us
steadfast and free
The wind in our sails
Be they gentle or gales
They’ll carry us together
Anywhere
They can’t see
What’s meant to be
But we don’t need to see
It always was and will be
We pay no mind
To reason or time
Fate will deal a hand
Loving and kind
Our paths crossing softly
Changed the heavens
We cannot demand
They return
You and me
We’re meant for the sea
And the starry nights
That guide us
steadfast and free
The wind in our sails
Be they gentle or gales
They’ll carry us together
Anywhere

Thirteen
04:07
|
|||
Do you remember
The words you left behind
Hidden in the comics
Tin cars and foreign coins
If I’d known you felt that way
I would have stopped to say, hey
Everybody hurts
You’re fine
I know you may feel different
But stop and look around
Everybody’s trying
To fit in and just be found
Normal is just a state of mind
The truth is it’s alright
To say you don’t feel normal most times
Finding who you are
Just might make you feel better
But I’m not sure that it happens
For awhile
So just sit back and try to breathe
What’s truly beautiful is free
And it doesn’t make you weak
To believe
I don’t have to tell you
I’m always on your side
Even when we argue
And don’t see eye to eye
We were all there too
In those years and in our rooms
And we all know what it means
To cry
Finding who you are
Just might make you feel better
But I’m not sure that it happens
For awhile
So just sit back and try to breathe
What’s truly beautiful is free
And it doesn’t make you weak
To believe

The Valley
04:08
|
|||
Find me a flower
That grows wild in the meadow
On rain drops and embers
Of bright august sun
In this valley of ours
At the edge of the shadows
Of the mountains that harbor
The secrets we’ve won
Like the ghosts of the past
Her eyes have seen so much living
That they’re deeper than oceans
And larger than life
With echo’s that ring
Through the hollow to the sky
And fall back to earth
Like a sweet lullaby
REST WEARY TRAVELERS
SEEKING YOUR OWN
LET THE VALLEY WELCOME YOU
INTO HER HOME
OVER THE MOUNTAINS
AND INTO THE VALE
YOUR JOURNEY WILL END
AND YOUR STORY BEGIN
The silence is broken by a
Whippoorwill
The way is lighted by a prayer
And fireflies set the brook ablaze
And you know you’re nearly there
You can find her there
Sitting under the poplars
Watching the starlings flock to
Bring in the night
With the days gone by
She’s as constant as time
And her story will carry on
Like a sweet lullaby
REST WEARY TRAVELERS
SEEKING YOUR OWN
LET THE VALLEY WELCOME YOU
INTO HER HOME
OVER THE MOUNTAINS
AND INTO THE VALE
YOUR JOURNEY WILL END
AND YOUR STORY BEGIN

Someday
03:36
|
|||
Things aren’t what I thought that they would be
At least out here where I can see the stars
But I’ve got 2 strong hands to work for me
I’ll plow the earth and plant a bounty far
Oooo someday The rain will fall and nourish everything
Oooo someday we’ll harvest what we’ve sown yesterday
Until then I guess we’ll live another day
Until then it’s just another day
Read news from papers caught up on the fence
The only way it ever reaches me
I pause and then release it to the wind
Let it got when you know no one can win
Ooo someday we’ll wade through the ruins in our way
Oooo someday we’ll see what’s in our face
But from what I read it’s just another day
For now it’s just another day
Worry never smooths a troubled road
But that hasn’t stopped us until now
So wipe the sweat from your brow
And carry on somehow
Cool green blades I feel against my back
Gazing up at starry skies
Trees sway together in a dance
Sharing with today their goodbyes
Ooo today will meet the night and dream it all way
Ooo I pray your rest be pleasant as it may
Tomorrow will be another day
Tomorrow will be another day

When I'm Gone
03:59
|
|||
I’ll haunt this place when I’m gone
I’ve walked it’s halls for too long
And if there’s one thing I know
It’s how to be quiet
I won’t need a heart to keep me warm
I won’t need the sun on these bones
And my feet will never tire
Of moving forward
Anymore
Oh, all will be undone
Stillness my constant companion
No lines drawn
Nothing lost or won
I’ll be a shadow in the sun
Like a silhouette at dawn
I won’t have to bother you again
I’ll be just like a whisper in the wind
But I hope you’ll think of me now and again
And sometimes smile
Maybe I can be like a star in the sky
Light the night for you to dream by
You can finally see my light
And make a wish to the sky
Where I’m shining bright
I’ll be part of something big
Ocean tides and valley winds
Forever and onward like this
Never ending
